Down on my knees, I'm prayin'... Down on my knees, Oh please” - Olivea Watson

Olivea Watson

Musician, Awards

Olivea Watson is an American, singer/songwriter. She released her newest, extended EP  "Down on my Knees" on Feb, 11th, 2023. Her record was recorded in Los Angeles & Philadelphia. This is Olivea's third album, her full record "Way Down Deep" won her Gibson Guitar New Artist of the Year Award. She was awarded a custom, one of a kind, gold top J-200 engraved  with her name. For her single "Let Go"  won her " A/C Breakthrough Artist of the Year" at the New Music Awards.  She was featured on several compilations to "Help Save World Hunger", all proceeds benefited world hunger and was distributed world wide.

She moved to Los Angeles at the age of twenty- one, to follow her dream as a singer/songwriter. She made her first record at Winslow Ct. Studios (former historic RCA Recording Studio). This is where she met her future partner and well-known Actor/Bassist, Marcus Giamatti.  She sang back up vocals on records and was also a session violinist to make ends meet. She taught violin on the side, anything to keep her playing music. She formed her band "Olivea Watson and The Unsung Heroes" with guitarist Tim Burlingame (Sweet Talk Radio), well known pianist/keyboardist Carl Byron (Rita Coolidge, Jackson Browne, Anne McCue, California, Henry Parker, Michelle Shocked, Lori Lieberman, Shane Alexander, Deana Carter, Bo Diddley, Austin Hanks, Warren Zevon, Jim Lauderdale) and well known Drummer, Otis Hayes (James Brown, Ice-T, The Temptations) . After struggling to break through, a few years later,  she met accomplished guitarist Michael Hakes (Player, Edgar Winter Band), who convinced her to make another record at Mad Dog Studios, with well-known Engineer Dusty Wakeman. She rehearsed for weeks with Michael, preparing the songs to make a "Live" studio record. He died suddenly a week before entering the studio before the sessions were to begin. Olivea was absolutely heartbroken over loosing Michael. She decided to go in the studio and cut her record "Way Down Deep" at Mad Dog Records anyway in dedication to Michael. This is when she was introduced by Dusty to well-known guitarist Doug Pettibone (Lucinda William, Norah Jones, Elvis Costello, Joan Baez, Jewel) who is featured on all her records since. Drummer, Don Heffington (Bob Dylan, Dave Alvin, Rickie Lee Jones, The Wallflowers, The Jayhawks) collaborated on Olivea's track "Scream Out Loud" which was her anti-war song. Drummer, David Raven (John Doe, Steve Earle, Norah Jones, Meat Puppets, Dave Alvin, Jim Lauderdale) plays  on Olivea newest single "Get Out".

Olivea wanted "Down on my Knees" to feature the musicians that she has loved and grown with over the years, she went back to Winslow Ct. Studios with Craig Adams mix and mastered the final tracks.
